Welcome students to the 2011-2012 school year!!

Welcome to Julian!

Welcome Team 6-2 students! I hope that all of you had great summers and are rested and ready to start the new school year. Thank you for visiting my online blog, it shows that you are ready to stay on top of things this year.
On this blog I will post my weekly syllabus for each week, as well as any other updates, reminders, and changes that may occur in my classes. Feel free to email me at any time if you ever have any questions at ccepicka@op97.org. Now here is my first informational post of the new school year!

*On the first day of school, you will be given a student planner. It is important that you keep your student planner with you ALWAYS because it will be the way that you keep track of all of your assignments. You are going to have 8 different classes now, so you will need to keep track of 8 classes worth of work/homework, and the assignment notebook will help you do that.

* Also in your student planner, there is the student handbook. It is important that you read through the handbook with your parents so that all of you understand the rules (such as no flip flops!) and expectations.
**Also, there are sheets that will need to be signed by you and your parents that highlight other important rules. An important sheet is the one that outlines the technology rules. You need to turn that one in signed to your advisory teacher or else you will not be allowed to go on the computers.

* You should come to school with a notebook and folder for every class (unless otherwise specified) and with an ample supply of black and blue pens, red pens, and PENCILS!!

MATH

For math class, you will not need a notebook and folder, but instead you will need to have a binder. The binder should have 6 dividers and be organized the following way:

Section 1: Notes

Section 2: Homework

Section 3: Daily Warm Ups and Homework Checks

Section 4: Tests and Quizzes

Section 5: ISAT Review/Other Practice

Section 6: Vocabulary

Your binder will also need to have paper in it - so that you have something to write your notes, vocabulary, homework, etc on.

You will get a more detailed explanation of the binder organization during the first day of school. Also, there will be a day in school where we will work on organizing your binder, so that I can make sure that you have it done correctly.

LANGUAGE ARTS/READING

For my Language Arts and Reading class you are also going to need a binder. We will talk more about the way that the binder is organized on the first day of school as well.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I am looking forward to meeting you in August!
